Deaf and hard of hearing services
Texas Health and Human Services
The Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services connects people to resources, raises awareness, and works on communication access. The Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program helps people whose disability gets in the way of using the telephone network. A voucher needs a completed application. The office page links to that program and to specialists you can search for. Camp Sign depends on donated funds. It is not guaranteed.
Next step
Open the office page and follow its link for the telephone equipment program, or search for a specialist.
HHSC works with people who are blind or visually impaired on independence goals. The page names the Blind Children's Vocational Discovery and Development Program, the Blindness Education, Screening and Treatment Program, and independent living. DBMD is also on that page. DBMD still uses the interest list. To ask about the services on this page, call the Office of the Ombudsman at 877-787-8999, choose a language, then option 3. For the children's program, you can also email BlindChildrensProgram@hhs.texas.gov.
